VectorTakeoff exists because the people who started it spent too many evenings measuring floor plans by hand.
Every painting contractor knows the drill. You get the plans, print them, and spend hours measuring rooms one by one.
Between us we've estimated well over 500 residential and commercial projects across Canada. We've scaled drawings at kitchen tables, built spreadsheets from scratch, and underbid jobs because we miscounted a floor.
The realization was simple: the data is already in the drawing. Software that reads real vector geometry should be able to extract it reliably. We built the first version to solve our own problem. Then we showed it to other contractors. Then we started building it properly.

An estimate built on bad measurements is worse than no estimate. We optimize for accuracy above everything.
